Children are the central focus of the early childhood curriculum at all times.

The role of the educator is to acknowledge the complexities and differences that children bring with them, and to assess and monitor children’s learning to inform, provide for and support children in achieving the learning outcomes as stated in the Early Years Learning Framework, namely:

• Children are connected with and contribute to their world
• Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
• Children are confident and involved learners
• Children are effective communicators.

Your child will be taught, nurtured and guided by a University qualified Early Childhood Teacher and qualified Assistant who have extensive years’ experience teaching pre-prep aged children. Our teaching staff work with the same group of children each day to provide the children with stability and continuity during the year.

Additional Needs Assistants are employed as required in accordance with C&K’s policy of equity and opportunity for all children.

Ashgrove West Kindy has been a pillar of the local community and a trusted early learning provider for Brisbane since 1939.

While we’ve been known as different names over the years, from Ashgrove West Preschool, Ashgrove West Preschool Kindergarten, and AWPS, our commitment to our children has always been consistent and recognised in our community.

Developing and delivering high quality early childhood education for over 80 years, the kindergarten is proud of our involvement in the community and our connection with all families who have been a part of our journey; did you know that we’ve had three generations of a family attend our centre!

On 22 November, 2014, we celebrated our 75th anniversary by opening the doors for a memorial celebration to the wider community and placing a time capsule in the ground full of creations by the children. We also displayed many photos and other historical memorabilia about the preschool.
